Webinar – Race and ancestry in forensic anthropology: an ethical question for us all.

February 16 @ 2:00 pm 3:00 pm

Title: Race and ancestry in forensic anthropology: an ethical question for us all.

Presenter: Marianna Cervantes, MSc.

I am a Ph.D. student at Simon Fraser University who is focused on Forensic Anthropology. My thesis research is focused on the biocultural context of growth and development and how that can impact the biological profile of the adult skeleton and ancestry estimation in particular. I am a non-traditional scholar with a background in industry, including experience as a permit holding cultural resource management archaeologist and several years of work assisting pathologists and law enforcement at forensic and clinical autopsies. I am committed to the informed application of forensic anthropology by our forensic community and passionate about respectfully using my skills to help provide closure and justice whenever possible.
