Dear Members of the Canadian Society of Forensic Science,
I am pleased to serve as President of the Canadian Society of Forensic Science and look forward to working with our members over the coming year.
Having spent much of my career as a forensic practitioner before moving into academia, I have seen firsthand the value of bringing together people with different expertise and perspectives. Our Society provides that bridge, connecting professionals from forensic laboratories, universities, law enforcement, government, and the justice system. I believe this sense of community is one of our greatest strengths.
Forensic science continues to evolve, bringing new scientific developments, emerging technologies, and new challenges. As these changes occur, it is more important than ever that we work together, share knowledge, and learn from one another. The Canadian Society of Forensic Science provides a place where these conversations can happen, helping to strengthen both our profession and the quality of forensic science in Canada.
One of my goals this year is to continue building those connections across disciplines, provinces, and career stages. Whether you are a student just beginning your journey, an early-career professional, or someone with many years of experience, everyone has something valuable to contribute. By supporting one another through mentorship, education, networking, and collaboration, we strengthen our community and help ensure the continued growth of forensic science in Canada.
I encourage you to become involved in the Society over the coming year. Attend a webinar, join a committee, or encourage a colleague to get involved in the society. Every contribution helps build a stronger and more connected forensic community.
I look forward to the coming year as we work together to continue building a welcoming, collaborative, and supportive forensic science community across Canada.
